Some Recent Games!

Some personal game projects Greg has been building lately.

First up, we have a throwback to the MUDs of yesteryear, playable from your phone, Sub/Surf/Synth and Hope City Misfits. Built off the same engine in less than 2 months, mostly using my direction and Claude Code, these are two fully functional games with two very different themes.

SubSurfSynth

  • A browser-based post-apocalyptic text game — think classic MUD meets modern web. No downloads, no installs, plays great on your phone.
  • Pick a faction — scavengers, underground engineers, or digital entities — each with a unique gameplay bonus that shapes how you play.
  • Explore a persistent, player-built world room by room. Search ruins for loot, fight mutated creatures, craft gear, and leave your mark on the walls with spraypaint.
  • Combat has real tactics — abilities, critical hits, damage ranges, and creatures that fight back with their own tricks. Every fight plays differently.
  • 100 Action Points per day means a meaningful session in 10-15 minutes. Perfect for a daily check-in, not a time sink.
  • World events pop up in real time — creature incursions, supply drops, survivor rescues. Respond before time runs out or watch the news report the failure.
  • Community projects let all players contribute toward shared goals that unlock new areas of the map.
  • Free to play. Supporter perks are cosmetic only — gold names, custom titles, bragging rights. Never pay-to-win.
Post-Apocalyptic fun as a Subterranean, Surface Dweller or Synthezoid (sub/surf/synth)

Hope City Misfits

  • A browser-based superhero text game. You're a new hero in a city that desperately needs one. The tagline says it all: "The city needs hope. They got you."
  • Your powers come from Resonance Orbs — equip a different orb, get different abilities. Spider powers, super speed, phase shifting, telekinesis, lightning. Your orb is your build.
  • Fight street thugs, Syndicate operatives, powered brutes, and shadow stalkers across a growing urban map. Every villain has abilities of their own.
  • Three factions shape the world — The Vanguard (organized heroes), The Syndicate (powered criminals), and The Vigilantes (wildcards who answer to nobody).
  • Craft gear, upgrade suits, explore neighborhoods, complete quests from NPCs with real personality, and piece together the mystery of where the orbs came from.
  • World events broadcast to all players — crimes in progress, civilian rescues, Syndicate operations. Race to respond. Your success (or absence) makes the news.
  • Quick sessions, persistent world. Log in, patrol, make a difference, log out. The city remembers what you did — and what you didn't.
  • Free to play, cosmetic-only supporter perks. Heroes don't pay for power.
The city needed heroes. They got... you.
