Why I Created This Site

Welcome, Geeks (and everyone else)
Why I Created This Site

I've been a geek my whole life – long before I had a word for it.

From tinkering with databases to designing games, I've always loved turning ideas into things that people could use, play or (if you're lucky) build their lives around. To me, developing software is both science and art – and code is my favorite creative medium.

I've always been good at the tech side. Communicating what I do? That's been the harder part.

This site changes that. Greg Speaks Geek is my way of sharing more of the journey – and more of myself – with you.

🧠The Backstory

If you've followed me for a while, you might recognize some of my past work under names like:

  • Unseen Things
  • Superhero Coding
  • Design Your Dream App
  • How to Build Games
  • The Game Dev Coach
  • Five Day Game Challenge
  • and most recently, Game Dev Alchemy

Of all those, Game Dev Alchemy is the primary one still active – and I'm proud of it. But I wanted a brand that could unify everything I do.

I love the name Unseen Things (and probably always will), but it doesn't capture the full scope of what I create. Greg Speaks Geek does. It's broad enough to include game development, creative tools, client work, and also things like board games, music, Marvel Star Wars – and whatever else I geek out about.

“Being a geek is all about being honest about what you enjoy and not being afraid to demonstrate that affection.”
– Simon Pegg

🧭What You'll Find Here

This site is a central hub for all the things I build, teach, and share. Here's what you can expect:

  • Tutorials and insights on how to make video games
  • Behind-the-scenes of projects I've built – released and unreleased
  • Deep dives into my tools, systems, and thought processes
  • A personal archive of ideas, experiments, and curiosities
  • A place to connect, learn and collaborate with other creatives
  • A portal to hire me for consulting, rescue projects or team mentoring

After decades of building software – often behind the scenes – I'm now taking Austin Kleon's Show Your Work advice seriously. I want to share more of the messy, magical middle.
